Damn

That's all I can say is damn. I can't say that the ref cheated us because that's a fine. I can't say that the Broncos didn't win that game because that's being a sore loser. I can't say that it was a mistake that the replay machine wasn't working in the first qtr cause that would be a lie. What I can say is damn damn damn. As a competitor it should never come down to the last play, but it did and we let it slip away. We can say that we should have won because the ref messed up a call and admitted it but at the end of the day we should never give up 39pts as a defense. I'm still proud of all my guys - they played their hearts out and left it all on the field. There are a few positives that come out of this. One is that the Giants started 0 and 2 last year, and two is that we started 1 and 4 last year. It's all good, our backs are against the walls, time to come out swinging. Ain't no punks on this team and we will show you better than we can tell you. SP

  Coming from a fan of the game, you guys got robbed but KARMA is the ultimate bitch this is exactly what Phillip Rivers gets for being a sore winner last year and talking smack to Jay Cutler and the Broncos...cause that was uncalled for.
  Lets be serious, what does Phillip Rivers have to be cocky about? He's done nothing in this league to prove himself more elite than anybody that he takes the field with.
  So, Rivers acts like a jerk to the Broncos and the karma merry-go-round comes back to smack him and his team in the face....

    smithr690... There is no such thing as karma, just like Santa Claus and trickle-down economics. If there was karma, George W. Bush would be a goner by now. Cutler is the one that needs to learn some class. He threw a hissy fit on the sideline last week during the second half when the Chargers were driving and tying up the game. I'm sure his defense appreciated that. Then, after being handed the game on not one but two bad calls, just ran into the locker room at game's end without shaking hands with the Chargers. Cutler is a poor sport and that is "fo" real!

TO had 20 catches for 283 1 TD....Insane Ratio--TO showed why he is a beast when he did this in 2000
BM had 18 for 166 1 TD....Wack Ratio...Gay Cutler and his two yard hitches and slants....this YPC ratio is horrible for a WR...

hey man i feel your pain, but i think you had one of the best refs in the league today. i know i know two calls were blown and they were huge and did cost you the game, but ed (incredible hulk) is good. the replay machine not working is horrible and it blows. the call at the end he admitted he was wrong which i think makes him a great ref in its own because he admitted his mistake but could do nothing about it. it happens when theres refs with quick whistles. it sux that 2 weeks in a row you guys lose at the buzzer. i know the caliber of that team though and with your backs against the wall as you said, id be scared to play you. hopefully all the bad luck is coming now to pave the way for the end of the year. best of luck

Ridiculous. The Broncos are a good team but the Chargers are much better. Broncos have an awful defense but one real positive from that team is their improving QB Jay Cutler. The first quarter call was even worse from the last drive call. I hate it when a ref admits he's wrong after the game, that's not how it works. I am a Giant fan Shaun and yeah, you sure are still in it but the third game is a must win. An 0-3 defecit is very hard to overcome so just go out there next week and give it all you got.

You are right that it should never come down to a call by the ref - however I have watched my last football game because the officiating is TERRIBLE. You can tell by the end of the 1st quarter in most games who the officials are for. The official should be fired from his job. I saw that the ball was fumbled when it happened and I was watching it at home. I am completey frustrated and won't be watching any more professional games.

Can't argue that the call was horrible. I was eating at a restaurant and the game was on and the whole place thought the ref had to have been blind. And I'm not even a SD fan, just don't like the douchebag of a QB.

Man, coming from a Broncos fan I admit that play was a fumble and we caught a lucky break. Some calls go your way and some go the other. One thing for sure is....where the hell was the defense on both sides in this game??? It was a shootout...Denver shoulda blew them out but let a good lead slip away. It just sucks it had to come down to bad officiating.......That ref is usually the best in the game...

Unfortunately this is a "what have you done for me lately" league. I was pissed and thought you were robbed on 2 critical calls of the game. I was praying that Shanahan would fall flat on his face when he called for the 2 point conversion. Obviously we all know what happened. I hate being a sore loser, or getting totally pissed at something I can't control. I guess I would look at it as the best way to avoid this situation is to avoid the situation PERIOD. Get a 3 and out when you need one. Stop them for even getting a whiff of the goal line. All games aren't decided on ONE (or two) plays. The truth of the matter is, if you put yourself in a better situation, you wouldn't have to live with 1 or 2 calls that didn't go your way. I can empathize with you and every Chargers fan. But I can't say I sympathize due to the lack of defense during the whole game.

The refs will make bad call; they too are intitled to some mistakes! But like "have2believe" , I believe that we must be able to overcome those particular errors. I have learned that perserverance adds strength and I am confident that once we improve our defense and special teams we will come back stronger and better than ever. Although very disappointed at the outcome of the game, I am still proud of the way you guys played. Since we "Believe in the NOW" let us remain constant to the idea of being the best and winning inspite of the obstacles! Therefore we make no excuses, we determine our cost and benefits, and we continue to motivate ourselves; it is then that wisely perserve!

The only thing on the field Sunday worse than Ed Hochuli was the Chargers' defense. I'm a life-long Chargers fan, but that was embarrassing. Aside from a few 3-and-outs at the start of the second half, the only thing stopping the Broncos' offense was Bronco penalties. Rivers and Sproles deserved better...

  that doesn't make any sense. do you know how much trash talking goes on in the nfl? it happens on every play. that scenario last year was just heavily publicized because it was a qb (rivers) yelling from the sideline. so according to your smack talk - karma theory, every team in the nfl has got it coming. and how can you say they got the last laugh when it's only week 2?

      that was a gift not a win. there are some bad calls that are questionable but this one was definite. the ref admitted it on the field, the nfl is going to mark him down, there is no denying that you lost the game but they gave it back to you.

IYou have a pretty balanced perspective for a fan whose team got the short end of the stick. But overall, everyone is focusing on the wrong peice of the puzzle. The Ref's don't win the games- the athletes do. The Refs don't drive tha ball across the goal line. I have coached and officiated in multiple sports and one thing I always tell athletes - as soon as they complain about the officating, they lose the power to change the outcome of the game. They complain about the ref- they put the responsibility for the outcome in the ref's hands.

Hochuli admited to Turner that it was a bad call - no shifting blame and no excuses, but he had rules to go by and no instant replay. He had rules to go by. If the coaches want the rules changed, they should go to the NFL and NOT publicly roast the Ref. Maybe we should take an inventory of the number of botched plays that Turner called during that very game?

Good luck to you- I am sure that the Chargers will be out for blood in the next matchup and I am sure as you pointed out- they won't give up so much D that the Ref's call is so pivotal.

But -- here's the point -- I'm not a coach, I'm not one of the Chargers players -- I'm a fan, and I call what I see, as I sit my lazy butt on my couch, and I'm not going to apologize for calling what I see, which is that the ref blew the call. i'm a HUGE Broncos fan but i have 2 admit that was a bogus call. i'm happy my team won but i am not happpy w/ how the game ended... :[[ the Broncos won by a technicallity and i would have prefered theem 2 have won fair and square. i had $45 dollars riding on this game, and i told the ppl i bet 2 keep their money cuz of how the game ended!

These pathetic statement from the Bronco fans are absurb !!!!! the dynamics of the game, the ebb and flow of emotions and game stategies are all shot to hell. A true fanatic of the game appreciates that the game outcome should be decided on the field of honor, and not by the horrendous calls made by that particular ref. Does any one really buy that story that the replay monitor was not working? how convenient! what was the point spread? there's something rotten in Den(ver)mark!!!!!!!!

SP - let it burn and get the motor up for next week. Happen to remember the trip to Lambeau last year? I was there when 4 and his wheelchair pulled one out and it had to hurt too. With Lights Out gone, the D needs some fire, let it burn and you can start the fire. Lights is great and he is missed, but YOU don't need him to play great, just get out there and start it up on every down. Make this the year SP gets 17 sacks. Refs or no refs, get the guys into the mindset that NOBODY is going to score on you again. Gotta get to that mental spot. This is the best chance the Bolts have ever had for a SB, but you guys gotta get the mindset EVERY game that it is the last game. Get Norv to start throwing out the Vince Lombardi quotes. Good luck and stay healthy!

SP and the D for the Bolts! True fans won't lose faith. You guys keep it together and do your job. If we focus on some of the positives moving forward; look at the 3rd qt of the game. Not only did the D line hold Denver to 3 yards, but look at the come back in points and yards. Rivers out threw Culter by the end of the game, and for week two it felt like that playoff game against Tenn last year.
Keep it up, and we all know you'll pull through. You always do.

I know everything will work out OK for the team since there are growing pains for the young and a re-discovery of who the defense is without Merriman!! Cooper coming back will be huge!!!
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I can't help but be compelled by Ed's logic. If he truly believed it was an incomplete forward pass than wouldn't he have blown it dead the second the ball hit the ground?!?!? I reviewed the play in slow motion and that ball is tumbling around and once Dobbins gets close to it that is when he decides to blow it dead, very curious!!!!

I can't wait to see the Broncos come to SD in December. At that time, there will be no christmas presents to help them win. Chargers are by far the best team in the AFC. Regardless of the first two losses, we're going to the superbowl. Believe this!

I would be more concerned with your head coach and his abiilty to make the right adjustments. Get the defense in order or its gonna be vacation time come January.
