Another Badgers walk-on who transferred out of the Wisconsin Basketball program this offseason has found a new landing spot in the portal.
Redshirt sophomore shooting guard Luke Haertle , who spent two seasons developing on the Wisconsin Badgers scout team, announced on social media that he is transferring to Division 2 Winona State University.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound guard will now be on scholarship for a Winona State team that finished 21-10 last season under Todd Eisner and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Luke Haertle, an in-state product, had a productive high school career at Lake Country Lutheran, where he garnered all-state honors three times.
He joined the Wisconsin basketball program as a preferred walk-on in the 2022 class alongside Badgers scholarship guard Connor Essegian.
In 2022-23, Haertle took a redshirt year as a true freshman but appeared in 11 games off the bench for the Badgers this past season, grabbing two defensive rebounds in 11 minutes of action.
With a crowded backcourt depth chart that at the time included Chucky Hepburn, Kamari McGee, Max Klesmit, John Blackwell, and incoming point guard Daniel Freitag, Haertle opted to enter the transfer portal once the season ended to pursue a better opportunity to see the floor.
With Haertle’s commitment to Winona State, each of the Wisconsin basketball team’s outgoing walk-ons has found a new home in the transfer portal. Ross Candelino will continue his career at Lipscomb University, and Isaac Lindsey signed with South Dakota State.
