Royals loss the final game of the series against the Giants, 3-1 

Bubic had a career day. Bubic was able to go six innings. He only allowed two hits and no runs. Bubic rolled through the line up, not giving up his first base hit until the fifth inning. The first time through the order Bubic had six strikeouts. That was a career high. He would end the day with nine strikeouts 

Paul Hoover said Bubic had a great day.

“He was incredible,” Hoover said. “He gave us what we were hoping for and that was six innings. He was great and couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Bubic was able to use all four of his pitches effectively getting multiple swings and mitches from every pitch. He totaled 18 swing misses on the day. Bubic got five misses from his curveball, four from his changeup, two from his slider and seven from his fastball.  

Bubic did not walk any batters and he only walked one batter in his last start. Coming into the 2023 season Bubic has looked like a brand new pitcher.

The Giants were also getting a great outing from their pitcher as well.  Anthony Desclafani pitched into the sixth inning only allowing three hits. He only got in trouble the twice with runners in scoring position. the Royals were able to capitalize on that in the fourth inning.

With two outs in the fourth inning the Royals were able to get their first baserunner. Vinnie Pasquantino was able to hit a double out to left field. They were able to capitalize as last night’s hero, Salvador Perez, hit a slider that stayed over the middle of the plate. Perez leaves the bay area adding five RBI’s to his season total. 

Bubic was pulled for the bottom of the seventh inning. Kansas City went to right handed reliever Carlos Hernadez. After getting two out Hernandez took an acquired side step on the mound. The training staff would come out and eventually pull him despite Hernadez trying to convince the training staff to keep him in. The Royals interim manager said it was a leg cramp.

Ryan Yarbrough came in to finish the seventh inning off. He stayed in for the eighth.   

The eighth inning would fall apart for the Royals bullpen. With one out in the inning Bryce Johnson singled to left. Wilmer Flores doubled to left on scoring Jonson. That tied the game at one apiece.

The real damage would come off the bat of Michael Conforto who bombed a 429 foot three run home run. The hit came off of a slider that stayed over the middle of the plate. That was the first hit Conforto had against a left handed pitcher this season. That put San Francisco up by two and would be the final runs of the game. 

The Royals lost the game 3-1 but won their first series of the year.
