Does Bosun Lawal deserve his chance next season at Celtic?

Bosun Lawal has returned to Celtic from his loan spell with Fleetwood Town, and will now look to impress Brendan Rodgers in pre-season amid significant interest in the Ireland U21 international from English clubs.

It was a year of mixed emotions for Lawal as he had a decent spell with the league one side, but could do nothing to stop the Cods suffering relegation to league two.

Bosun has received rave reviews during his loan spell at Fleetwood and was a favourite among the Cod army. He was a stand out in the side with his battling displays in the middle of the park.

Bosun has the qualities that are currently missing from our side, power and physical presence, especially in the middle of the park. His time at Fleetwood and playing regular football will have benefited him greatly, but does he have what it takes to step up a level with Celtic?

ON CELTIC SHORTS…‘Celtic have responded like champions, Rangers wilted under the pressure,’ Stubbs

One things for sure is that we won’t know until he’s given that chance. Folk are scoffing that he was only been playing at league one level, but it didn’t do Callum McGregor or more recently Matt O’Riley any harm did it?

Bosun will have improved as a player and a person after his spell at Fleetwood. He will be chomping at the bit to impress Brendan in pre season, he more than deserves that opportunity.

But if Brendan decides to go in a different direction with his midfield personnel for the new campaign, then Celtic stand to make a reasonable return on the player as a result of his impressive showings at Fleetwood.

Brendan will almost certainly want to assess the player in training before making up his mind.
